A Grade I listed Jacobean manor with centuries of history

Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel, a magnificent Grade I listed building, has a storied past that stretches back centuries. Originally constructed in the late 16th century, this estate has witnessed many transformative eras and has been home to notable families in English history.
The earliest records of the Hall trace it to the Arden family, who built the original structure. Its most significant transformation occurred in the late 1600s under the ownership of Sir John Bridgeman, who extensively renovated the Hall, infusing it with the elegant Jacobean architecture that characterises it today.
Through the 18th and 19th centuries the Hall changed hands several times, each owner adding their unique touch to the building and its grounds. In the 20th century the Hall was sympathetically repurposed as a hotel, preserving its historical integrity while opening its doors to guests from around the world.

Beside the hotel lie the historic Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens — a rare surviving example of an 18th-century English formal garden. Often referred to as the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the West Midlands, these Dutch formal walled gardens feature restored parterres, an orangery, historic orchards and intimate garden rooms to wander.
Together with our own beautifully restored formal gardens, they make Castle Bromwich Hall one of the most romantic and characterful settings in Birmingham — for a quiet escape, a celebration, or a wedding beneath the open sky.
